Arlecchino , il servo tonto e un po' ingenuo conosciuto in tutto il mondo, è la maschera che segna l'inizio della Commedia dell'Arte, tipica manifestazione teatrale italiana in auge nel '500, con cui il teatro diviene un mestiere.



Da diavoletto sbeffeggiatore , qual'era in origine (1) , Arlecchino diventa “ il buffone ” delle compagnie di comici che girovagavano per le corti principesche e dei saltimbanchi che percorrevano le fiere e i mercati e animavano le piazze italiane con i loro spettacoli.

È in questo periodo che il personaggio subisce le maggiori trasformazioni nell’aspetto e nel carattere e si guadagna il ruolo del “ secondo Zanni ” più famoso della Commedia dell’Arte .


Verso il Cinquecento, la maschera di Arlecchino è già definita: parla bergamasco (2) , ha una corta giacchetta e pantaloni aderenti fino alle caviglie, tappezzati da losanghe verdi, gialli, blu e rossi ; con un bastone (il “ batocio ”infilato nella cintura) a forma di spatola, che veniva utilizzato dai bergamaschi per girare la polenta nel paiolo e per condurre le vacche al pascolo e che lui usa nelle zuffe.
Nella cintura è infilata anche la “ scarsela ” (piccola borsa) dentro la quale tiene il pane, i soldi e la lettera del padrone da recapitare.
La mezza mascherina nera col naso camuso, copre metà viso lasciando scoperta la bocca e le guance dalla barba irsuta, permettendo una buffa mimica, caratteristica del personaggio, con sopracciglia voluminose che esprimono aria interrogativa.

This is the second part of a debate that was held in Toronto in November of 2010 between the former British Prime Minister Tony Blair and the columnist for Vanity Fair Christopher Hitchens

TONY BLAIR: First of all, I think that we should not think that because you are able to show examples of prejudice in the name of religion, then the bigotry, prejudice and wrongs that are committed to be only a derivative of religion. There are many examples of prejudice against women, against gay people and against others, who come from worlds beyond that of religion. And what I'm saying is that everything that the Church has done in Africa but it is right - let me say this - something that has certainly done, and did it when I was Prime Minister of Great Britain, [was ] organize together, including churches, a campaign for debt relief: they stand together, and they got it. So I agree that not all things done by the Church and religious communities in Africa and the world are right, but I tell you just to accept that there are people who have done and are doing an important job, day after day, and who genuinely are not affected, nor prejudice, nor bigotry, but who continue to work with people who are suffering from famine, disease and poverty, and doing this work since inspired by faith. And yes, it is true that not all of them or, rather, it is true that there is no need to be people of faith to do charitable work, I never said that and I would not say never. I know many, many people who are not religious at all, but they do a decent, wonderful work for their communities and the world. What I say is very simple: despite all this, there are still people who do well as inspired by the fade.

Dopo aver percorso la romantica scaletta di Santa Lucia, proseguiamo l'agreste itinerario con la sua  "gemellina", una scaletta che conduce in...Paradiso!

PARTENZA: Via Riva di Villasanta (zona piscine Italcementi)
ARRIVO: Via Tre Armi
TEMPO DI PERCORRENZA: 15' 
POSSIBILITY MTB: 50%

The name of this route refers to a religious community and missionary of the early 700 call - in fact - "Paradise", housed in a convent on the top of ' hill at the foot of the glacis of St. John.
today to witness this important presence, there remain only the name and sunny beauty of this road dates back to the staircase that grassy slopes separating the village from the ramparts of Saint Lucia in Via Tre Armi.

The route branches off from Via Riva di Villasanta and leads by way of three weapons with the regularity of 250 solid steps laid out in a workmanlike manner.
